Claude's platform moment arrives as security cracks and valuation math get harder to ignore.

From the editor

Two threads run through today's briefing. First, Claude is becoming infrastructure: Mods turn agents into extensible platforms, Opus 4.7 sharpens the eyes, and Fable 5 raises the performance ceiling even as it raises costs. Second, the seams are showing. A home directory wiped by a misread alias, four patched sandbox bypasses, 512k lines of source code left public, and an IPO structure where compute commitments dwarf contract durability. The platform is growing fast. The operational and financial hygiene is not keeping pace.

TL;DR

  1. 1.Claude Code Mods make agents extensible; ecosystem growth is now outpacing native vendor features.
  2. 2.Anthropic's IPO math looks shaky: 518 billion in locked compute, zero locked customer contracts.
  3. 3.A Windows alias fooled Claude Code into deleting a home directory it claimed to have spared.
